Quality of Life

Alvin is twelve miles southeast of Houston in northeast Brazoria County, and is a community that is proud of its history and committed in preserving its heritage and uniqueness as a town on the edge of the nation's fourth largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The past continues to be embraced today, made evident by historic structures such as the Alvin Depot, the "original town" neighborhoods, and traditional downtown area.

Alvin is a community that is committed to preserving its heritage while also optimistic about what lies ahead to maintain the quality of life enjoyed today. With 2 state highways, both BNSF and UP rail lines, 2 major airports, and Alvin Community College, Alvin also delivers value in transportation and education. Alvin offers many parks and recreational venues including a hike and bike trail and the dedicated night-lit disc golf course next to Alvin Community College.

With our proximity to Houston and the NASA area to our east, there are many opportunities beyond our excellent quality of life we have here. Visit our Parks Department and the Alvin-Manvel Chamber of Commerce for additional information.
