Utility Billing Clerk : Utility Billing/Finance

 

As part of a team, Utility Billing clerks provide excellent customer service to the City of Alvin's customers.  This position requires superior customer service and analytical skills residing in a fast-paced working environment and candidate must have the ability to work under pressure, be able to multi-task and handle money.  Duties include preparation and billing of utility accounts for service, cashier collecting; receipting, posting and balancing, preparing and/or analyzing reports, data entry, providing excellent customer relations and other routine clerical tasks.  Bilingual preferred, but not required.  High school graduate or its equivalent plus two years of clerical and/or customer service experience is strongly recommended.  Candidates will be subjected to a background check and physical.

Recreation Specialist : Parks Department

 

Recreation Manager - Seeking Recreation Specialist

Under the Supervision of the Recreation Manager, this position is to facilitate recreation activities including but not limited to, community special events, and aquatic programs.  Customer service is the name of the game with the Recreation Division, we love people and we want people to love us.  You will often find us registering citizens for classes or activities, creating marketing publications for events and programs, maintaining facility cleanliness, assisting with program scheduling, and various administrative services.  You must have current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment; ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification within 6 months of employment; ability to obtain American Water Safety Instructor certification within 6 months of employment; ability to obtain American Red Cross LGI certification within 6 months of employment; flexible schedule - some nights and weekends required, more frequently during the summer months; associates degree and 1 year of recreation experience preferred.  High school diploma or GED required.

Performs skilled mechanical repair and maintenance of City vehicles and equipment.  Must maintain shop inventory, and keep complete and accurate maintenance records.  Assist in providing instruction and leadership to subordinate mechanics and performs related work as required.  Must be able to perform a full range of complex tasks within a framework of established procedures.  Vocational/Technical diploma in automotive mechanics supplemented by a minimum of three years of responsible experience in automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair work.  Must possess a valid class B CDL driver's license.

Swimming Pool Manager : Parks & Recreation Department

 

Operation of Bob S. Owen pool.  Supervise assistant pool manager and lifeguards.  Enforcement of pool rules.  Previous experience in management.  Work closely with LTS Coordinator.  Requirements:  Current Red Cross certified lifeguard, first aid and CPR.  Minimum 21 years of age.

$10.00 - $13.00 Per Hour

Learn to Swim Coordinator/Assistant Manager : Parks & Recreation Department

 

A combined position that is responsible for both duties.  Assist pool manager at facility and supervise lifeguards.  Two years lifeguard experience with Red Cross certification, first aid and CPR.  Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of the Learn-to-Swim unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include:  teaching classes, planning, assigning and directing work for the other WSI instructors, addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Minimum 18 years of age. 


SALARY: 
 $10.00 - $13.00 Per Hour

Red Cross water safety instructors certification or equivalent other certification.  Teach Level 1 through Level V.  Minimum age17.

Proficient swimmer and comfortable with the water.  Teach Level 1 through Level V swim lessons.  Minimum age 15.

Lifeguards : Parks & Recreation Department

 

Responsible for enforcement of rules and regulations at the Bob S. Owen and Harby Junior High pools.  Maintain pool, safety of swimmers, and collection of fees.  Must have current Red Cross certification for advanced lifesaving, first aid, and CPR or equivalent other certification.  Minimum age 16. 

 

SALARY:  $7.25 - $8.50 Per Hour

Part-Time Maintenance Worker : Parks & Recreation Department

 

Responsible for maintaining and upkeep of the City's parks, buildings, grounds, and preparation for community events.  Maintains and mows parkland and athletic fields, trims trees, shrubs, waters and till flower beds.  Inspects playgrounds, cleans park restrooms, and all other duties as assigned.  Valid Driver License is good standing.

 

SALARY:  $9.60 Per Hour
