Alvin Upfront Citizens Academy

 

The new year will bring the second annual Alvin Upfront Citizens Academy! Alvin Upfront is a 6-week course on City government operations and activities. Learn from departments like: Finance, Police, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Utilities, and more. Participants will visit various city facilities and build relationships in an interactive environment. Upon graduating, participants will be more engaged, energized to lead in the community and effectively work with city officials to attain community goals.

 

We are calling on individuals to apply to Alvin Upfront who:

 

  • Want to learn about the operations of the City of Alvin
  • Want to engage with city employees and build relationships
  • Want to assume a leadership role within the city in the future

 

Classes will be held Mondays, starting February 5, 2018 through March 12, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and graduation on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Classes are free and limited to 25 participants.

Alvin Upfront is a Citizens Academy that Provides residents an up-close and in-depth look at the operation of their municipal government.  It is designed to educate and encourage citizens to become more engaged and assume a leadership role within the community.  We believe that strengthening our relationship with citizens creates a more effective community.
