Public Hearings - Notices regarding public hearings are issued by the City of Alvin for certain rulemaking or lawmaking proceedings as required by law. The notice provides for the opportunity for members of the public to make their opinions on proposals known before a rule or law is made. The notices listed on this web page are also published in the local newspaper.

Publication of Ordinances - Article 2 Section 12 of the City of Alvin Charter says:  the descriptive caption of every ordinance imposing any penalty, fine or forfeiture for any violation of its provisions shall be published in the official newspaper and every such ordinance shall not take effect until ten (10) days after the date of publication.
