Resolution 17-R-19 created the HOT Fund Committee. Provisions of the Resolution are as follows:
The Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Fund Committee shall include a minimum of three (3) members representing the interest of the hotel and convention industry. The other committee members may include owners/managers of tourist attractions, and/or representatives of organizations involved in allowable use categories of the tax code governing HOT funds.
Members of the HOT Fund Committee shall be appointed by the City Council, and serve unexpired terms, not to exceed eleven (11) members total, and meet at least quarterly. The Alvin Convention and Visitors Bureau Director or appointee will attend HOT Fund Committee meetings.
The sole purpose of the HOT Fund Committee is to review applications from groups or organizations applying for HOT funding, and make initial funding recommendations to the City Council, who in turn will make the final decision on the allocation of funds.
Each group, with an acceptable application, will be scheduled for a date and time to present their request to the Committee.
